Team17 has acquired a number of assets from independent developer Iguana Entertainment, and added the company’s co-founders to its senior staff.
Brothers Jason Falcus and Darren Falcus will take the roles of head of studio development and senior manager of business development respectively.
“Joining Team17, a studio with such a heritage of making great games which people clearly love to play is an exciting prospect,” said Darren Falcus.

Google intends to kickstart a new wave of browser gaming with its Native Client technology, Venturebeat reports.
At least “a dozen” game companies attended an event at the company’s GooglePlex headquarters in California to show their support for the tech, which will allow simple, secure, high-performance porting of PC and console games.
Among the attendees was Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada, who showed IO Interactive’s Mini Ninja’s running in the Chrome browser.

MP Keith Vaz has asked that the House Of Commons hold a debate over the effects of video games, supporting the move with a recently published study showing that games can physically affect the brain.
“Could we have a debate next week about the harmful effects of violent video games?” he requested.
“Last week, the university of Indiana published research that showed that regularly playing those games resulted in physical changes in the brain.”

Channel 4′s commissioning editor for education Dr Jo Twist has been appointed as the new CEO for UK industry trade body UKIE.
Twist will commence work in her new post on January 9, 2012. Twist has a long history in television work, but was influential in commisioning a great deal of educational and entertainment based games for Channel 4 during her tenure, including controversial sexual health title Privates, as well as project such as Paulina Bozek’s Closet Swap initiative.
“We are really excited that Jo has agreed to lead UKIE at this really exciting time in our development,” said UKIE Chairman Andy Payne.

Representatives from the Xbox Live Indie Games community have expressed concern over the changes made to the Xbox Live dashboard.
A number of developers told Eurogamer that the Metro update has shifted emphasis away from games in general, and the Indie Games channel in particular.
Brett Eveleigh, who developed Avatar Battle Bees, predicted that the XBLIG community’s disappearing faith in the platform will be further eroded by the new UI.

GSC Game World, creators of the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. games, is rumoured to have been closed down, with the in-progress S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 reported as being cancelled by the same sources.
Initially, PC gaming blog Rock Paper Shotgun reported on a Ukranian news story claiming that owner and founder Sergei Grigorovich had closed down the studio, dissatisfied with progress on S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2.
The company’s official Twitter feed soon responded with a Tweet saying: “No we have not closed GSC or cancelled #stalker2″. However, that tweet has now disappeared from the feed, leaving considerable confusion over the fate of the outfit.

Disney’s Club Penguin will soon be hosting its fifth annual ‘Coins for Change’ program, in which players are asked to donate the virtual coins won playing games in the online world.
If players manage to fill a virtual island lighthouse with the coins then Disney has pledged to donate two million dollars to a selected charities. Each coin donated counts as a vote for one of the available good causes, spread across categories of medical care, safe place provision and earth protection.
“I am continuously amazed by the commitment and passion our players have for helping improve the lives of others,” said executive VP of Disney Online studios Lane Merrifield.
