Speaking to VG 24/7, temporary DICE CEO Patrick Bach discussed the company’s ambitious plans to give Battlefield 3 players a lengthy relationship with the game. Saying that support could extend into 2013, he said “We make sure that if you’re a Battlefield player, there should be plenty of Battlefield for you to spend your days on. And again, we are focusing on giving you 12-18 months of value for Battlefield 3 and the expansion packs we’re releasing.”
That’s a lot of effort, even if, as VG 24/7 notes, this only refers to patches and other scheduled updates. Especially as they still haven’t confirmed whether or not they’re working on Battlefield 4. “Right now,” Bach said, “we haven’t had that planned out yet. Depending on what happens, we’ll change things and add to it. We’re very keen on listening to the community and we read all the forums and posts, we make sure we implement any changes that need to be implemented and of course validate through data.”
This effort toward supporting BF3 might be why DICE won’t be working on the next Medal of Honor game, save sharing “the odd tips and tricks” for the Frostbite 2 engine. The engine debuted to great acclaim in BF3 and is being used by Danger Close for Medal of Honor: Warfighter, which launches in October.
With the demo of Sniper Elite V2 out for consoles as well as Steam, VG247′s Sam Clay decided to dive head first into the entire Schönberg Convoy mission.
Above, you will find 20 minutes worth of gameplay as well as a look at the Russian sniper and sub-machine gun for the first time ever. In the full game, players can choose between the German, Russian, or US sniper, each with their very own specifics.

Synergy. Is there any word more beautiful? And today we have a most excellent example of the concept. If you’re looking forward to the upcoming Neverwinter MMO, Runic Games and corporate parent Perfect world are offering players access to the closed beta. If they pre-order a copy of Torchlight 2, that it.
Elder Scrolls: Skyrim has already been out nearly 5 months and yet there’s still no DLC to speak of. That’s probably for the best, as you probably haven’t finished it yet. BAZINGA. But seriously, it’s been a while, but it looks indeed like the first DLC packet is coming. An enterprising Bethesda forums member has taken a closer look at the Patch 1.5.26 update files; scanning the files for valid strings, and he discovered several files with very revealing titles. Some examples:
You’ll notice that aside from the crossbow files, each contains DLC01. This would seem to be a slam dunk case for their appearance in DLC and for that DLC being soon, if not imminent. The forum member surmises that the DLC contains Snow elves, a Snow Elf Prince, Crossbows, and New vampire feeding animations. Also, something prefixed ‘RF’, but no one seems to know what that is. Fortunately, it looks like we are getting closer to an announcement; Bethesda is hinting the official reveal is happening next week.
People are excited for this Guild Wars 2 thing, I guess. Those who pre-ordered a digital copy of the game from its official website will get to enjoy entry into the beta this weekend, but if you’re late to the party getting a copy purchased, bad news: they’re gone.
ArenaNet says it has limited the number of digital copies that are available in order to make sure the game isn’t inundated with players. This way, the company is sure that it can accommodate everyone, especially with a beta coming down this weekend. The developer says that it is “likely to have capacity available after the initial crunch at the start of the weekend,” so it’s possible more sales might open up and more slots in the beta could become available. Maybe, maybe not.
Meantime, if you head out to Game Stop or Best Buy, you can still grab a pre-order and, likely, a beta pass.
While that Atlantis management sim starring Aquaman – you know, our dream game – isn’t like to be made anytime soon, it seems EA is already laying claim to Sim-themed titles beyond 2013′s “SimCity.” A new trademark for something called SimOcean was filed earlier this week.
The filing was made in Europe and spotted by Siliconera, and beyond that we don’t know much else. Maxis produced a slew of Sim offshoots over the years, including SimHealth, SimTower, SimFarm and many more. We’ll have to add SimOcean to that list if it ever becomes more than a trademark.
A shot of Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 pre-order cards has been sent in to IGN showing a release date of November 13.
The cards pretty much confirm the name of the title, as well as the date, both of which have been the rumor du jour for over a month now.
Earlier this week, a viral video FPSRussia suggested the game will take place some 10-15 years in the future, and a logo for the game on the CoD website mentioned Tacitus, along with many other flashing “classified” items.
The game is set for a formal reveal on May 1 during the NBA Playoffs Tuesday night.
