When speaking with Eurogamer, Capcom’s Keiji Inafune stated that they want Dead Rising to knock the Resident Evil franchise off of it’s throne and become Capcom’s new number one IP.
“The goal for Dead Rising 2 is to replace the Resident Evil franchise and become number one IP within Capcom,” he said. Earlier today, it was confirmed by Keiji himself that we would be seeing the first info on Resident Evil 6 shortly. In an exercise of redundancy, he also said that if Dead Rising 2 sells well, there will be a Dead Rising 3.
“Until Dead Rising 2 sells we probably can’t start talking about spin-offs, if it’s received pretty well, yes we would consider a sequel. But at the moment we just don’t know.” were his precise words.
Dead Rising 2 will be released on September 28th in the Americas and September 24th in Europe for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. The PC version, however, doesn’t release in Europe until September 28th.
