Last night, after the Mass Effect Twitter account tweeted that there will be a Mass Effect 3 demo in January, BioWare UK Community Manager Tully Ackland tweeted that there will be ways for gamers to get the demo early.
There will be several ways to get the #ME3 demo early! Pick up a copy of #BF3 and thats one option! More ways TBA
So buy Battlefield 3, get Mass Effect 3 demo early. Got it. I wonder how that will work. I guess we’ll find out at some point.

Buyers of next week’s Battlefield 3 have a sci-fi surprise in store, as first run copies of EA’s shooter juggernaut also include a code to access Mass Effect 3′s recently announced cooperative multiplayer mode. The demo will launch in January, though the actual date is yet to be determined.
For the non-cooperatively inclined, don’t fret – the demo will also include a section of the singleplayer campaign. Users in every region Battlefield 3 is available will have access to the multiplayer portion of the demo, provided they buy Battlefield that is. It sounds like the singleplayer portion just might be free to all, regardless of your Battlefield status. You can find more information at the official BioWare forums.

The more PopCap Games’ Plants vs. Zombies gets around — on Apple’s iOS mobile platform, Xbox Live, Steam, the Playstation Network, and now finally on Android mobile devices — the more popular it becomes, it seems. It’s a pretty simple, classic setup of the tower defense genre: invaders try to invade, and towers shoot them in the face (among other things).
What we have here is a demo for Mini Robot Wars, in which you command groups of tiny alien robots who are under another such onslaught, and who need to be deployed to stop the invaders with a number of different weapons and over lots of different terrain. Here’s a quick rundown of the system requirements:
- Operating System: Windows XP/Vista/7
- CPU: 2.0 GHz processor
- RAM: 1 GB
- Hard Drive Space: 124 MB
- DirectX Version: 9.0c or newer
- Sound Card: DirectX-compatible sound
- Video Card: 128MB of video memory – 16-bit or 32-bit color quality
