Modern Warfare 3 is now official, because it has a teaser. It’s styled like last year’s initial MW2 No Russian teaser, but with a little tweak that makes the whole New York thing we talked about earlier today oh so apparent. Also Mackarov’s voice shows up. Just watch it.

And so New York will be destroyed yet again.

Earlier this week we took a look at the upcoming multiplayer dual-stick shooter Deadlock from Crescent Moon and Invulse Games, and today we have the first trailer which shows the game in action. Deadlock will feature matches that can be played with up to 8 players online using Game Center in modes such as Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and Capture & Hold.

In addition, there will be a fairly extensive upgrading system for your player. The 30 different weapons in the game will have various unlockable attachments which can alter their performance, and your character can equip armor pieces that offer different attributes and abilities. Many of these items and weapons will unlock as you achieve the 30 available ranks in the game through play.

Take a look at the first teaser trailer for Deadlock, which actually is quite a tease but does show off a good bit of gameplay:

Crescent Moon and Invulse are aiming to have Deadlock out by late June, and based on my time with a preview version of the game it’s definitely one to keep your eye out for if you enjoy dual-stick shooters and competitive online play. There’s a lengthy discussion thread in our forums where both developers have been chiming in with additional details, and we’ll have more on Deadlock as it nears its release sometime next month.

Guess what, Xbox owners — starting April 29, you get access to Hulu Plus on Xbox Live. Even better, the first week is free.

Hulu starts up on XBL starting tomorrow, and the complementary free work of service extends to everybody, Gold and Silver members alike. Celebrate Mother’s Day early, or some other holiday, and get your fill of free on-demand TV through your Xbox until May 6. After that, Hulu Plus runs $ 7.99 per month.

~ Looking for Hints and Tips for Rift? ~
~ Check out our post now about available Rift Guides HERE ~

The updates are coming fast and furious now. We unveiled NPCs, quests, zones and the npc2item tool yesterday, and today we’ve got another improvement to the system. We’ve added discoveries to every item, recipe, artifact collection, and NPC uncovered in the game! If you want a way to show off and brag to your friends, but you don’t want to Twitter spam everyone (like I did!) this is a great way to do it. Just find that item you discovered first and simply link your friends to it.

And we have even more to come next week as we continue to add even more functionality every day to our continually improving database, soul builder, and wiki. If you have a thought or suggestion for us, make sure you drop by the forums and let us know!

iPad 2: First Look and Photo Gallery

by Salat on March 12, 2011 · 0 comments

An iPad Next to an iPad 2While the final numbers are not yet in, we know Apple sold more or less an ass load of iPad 2s on its product launch day. Scouting reports from our friends at sister publication Mac|Life told of lines blocks long outside of Apple stores by Friday afternoon, so we decided to hit up a low-profile AT&T store. We called ahead to confirm that they would have iPad 2s at 5pm, only to show up and be told that no, they were only taking orders that would take 5-7 days to fill. (Oh AT&T, is there no rock bottom for you?) So it was off to an entirely unglamorous Best Buy, where we slid comfortably into the #4 spot in line.

Fast forward a few hours, and we’ve got a shiny new black 16GB Wi-Fi iPad 2 with which to muck about. A full-fledged, beyond mucking review will come next week, but here are our initial impressions of the iPad 2 compared to the original.

Aesthetics

Despite being a third thinner and two ounces lighter than the original, the iPad 2 feels solid and sturdy in the hands. While holding it with two hands in portrait, it’s quite comfortable to type, swipe, and otherwise gesture with the two thumbs.

Although it’s the same resolution display as the original, the iPad 2′s screen is noticeably brighter with both tablets at the same brightness setting. [click to continue…]
