The game, set to debut this summer, is the first to come from the Madrid-based Tequila Works, which has stayed relatively quiet since its founding in September 2009. According to its company website, the independent studio is home to 26 employees, many of whom have a background in film …

Hello Capsuleers,

In order to prevent possible abuse of the Dust 514 beta keys, Lead GM Grimmi has the following message regarding use of keys and potential scamming, ‘Scams involving DUST 514 beta keys are not allowed. Much like EVE Online accounts, the beta keys are non-transferrable and selling them, or offering to sell them is thusly prohibited.’

Further details of the Dust 514 sign-up can be found here.

Tweets From 65 Year-Old Skyrim Mom

by Salat on January 12, 2012 · 0 comments

Bethesda community manager Nick Breckon convinced his 65 year-old mother to play Skyrim and has been tweeting the comments she makes on her very own Twitter account: Skyrim Mom.

You can peruse the tweets for yourself, but here are my favorites.

On medieval terminology:

These guys were yelling at me ‘get to the Keep, get to the Keep!’ I didn’t know the symbols yet and I felt so stupid. Who is skilled enough to know castle language?

On the chaos of battle:

It was all dark and everyone was hiding behind boulders, and I didn’t want to die again, so I just kept shooting and shooting and shooting.

And then I heard the funniest thing: ‘Well what the hell are you shootin’ at me for, you’re supposed to be killin’ them! Quit shootin’ me!’

I laughed so hard. I was just killing everyone.

On the simpler things:

I like the way I can walk around and pick up thistles. All I’m doing is picking locks and thistles.

On theft:

I was in a house and there was all this stuff, and it kept saying ‘take it, steal it, steal it.’ Am I supposed to be stealing things?

On burglary:

I took on some woman in a house. I stole all her food and she pulled a knife on me and I killed her. Is stealing part of the goal?

[Later] I died so I went back to the same house and did it again as a nice person.

On the simpler things, part two:

I can cook? Where do I cook? In some guy’s house?

On flower power:

I keep collecting lavender. I thought, ‘Well, lavender has a very calming effect, maybe I can use the lavender on somebody.’

But by the time I equipped the lavender I’d be dead on the ground, so.

On meeting strangers:

I generally wait and make everything daylight because it’s safer. I don’t know who these guys are.

Keep it up, Skyrim Mom.

The annual Las Vegas-based gadget mega-show CES isn’t typically known for its big video game announcements. Sure, game companies have used CES to make some game-related announcements, or to highlight previously-announced game products, but if game companies really want to make a big splash, they’ll typically use something like the game-centric summer E3 event (or sometimes, our own GDC). But while CES isn’t typically known for game industry announcements, professionals — whether from the business …

Doing voice work for first-person shooters isn’t all fun and games; sometimes you have to scream your ass off. And that’s what Gary Oldman, who played Reznov in Call of Duty: Black Ops, tells Conan O’Brien on his show. Well, he doesn’t just tell him. He screams at him. Watch this.
