Big list of Amazon Black Friday Gaming Deals

by Salat on November 26, 2011 · 0 comments

In addition to the Xbox LIVE Marketplace Black Friday deals I’ve already posted, I put together this table of Xbox 360 gaming deals from Amazon (US).

I’ve decided to try something a little different: I’ve created an Excel spreadsheet and embedded it here as an
Excel Web App. This will allow you to perform basic sorting and filtering functions on the list directly in your browser by just clicking on the down arrow in each column header.

Although I’ve assembled this table from deals currently available, Black Friday sales often sell out very quickly so you’ll want to jump on these before the offer is no longer available. You can see a full list of gaming additional deals they have here.

If you find any other deals you wish to share feel free to post the in the comments. Also be sure to follow me on Twitter as I’ll be posting additional sales I come across. I hope this helps saves you some money.

I’d love to hear your feedback if this Excel Web App approach is more helpful than a regular list.

Our Arkham City Wish List (PC)

by Salat on October 13, 2011 · 0 comments

Arkham City comes out for the PC on October 18th and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Arkham Asylum was a masterpiece, and it’s upcoming sequel is looking equally awesome. Now without being too pushy, there are a few things that might make this game even more amazing. So without further ado, here is our Arkham City PC wishlist.

1. Costume Mod Tools

Modders have already found ways to create their own custom Batman costumes in Arkham Asylum. Why not just include the tools to do this in the game? We know the technology exists, we’ve seen it in countless other games. Just give us a damn costume design feature.

2. An Adam West Batman Mod

The next item on our wish list comes from the twitter of Epic Games Director, Cliffy B.
“I wish Batman: Arkham City had an “Adam West” skin I could acquire that would cause fullscreen WHAMs and POWs when in melee combat.”
We agree wholeheartedly Cliff. Some inspired modder out there has to get on this ASAP when the game comes out.

3. The Ability to Change Graphics Settings

Can we pretty please have more than one chance to set our graphics preferences. In Arkham Asylum, the only opportunity to choose graphics settings was the very first time the game started up. After that, players who wanted to tweak something were just out of luck.

4. A Fight with Clayface

So in Arkham Asylum we saw Clayface pacing back and forth in his cell and changing into different people. But at no point did players get to go toe to toe with the shapeshifter. This fight could be epic! He could be disguising himself as Gotham PD and Batman has to figure out which one is Clayface and take him down. It would be like Batman meets Assassin’s Creed.

5. Build your own Batman Gadgets

It might be cool to have a system where we could create improvised Bat devices. For example, I could spray explosive gel on a Batarang to make an explosive Batarang. It would add an extra level of depth to the game and create some really challenging Riddler puzzles.

6. A Swimsuit Costume Mod for Harley Quinn

Yeah, I know I’m sick. What can I say, I like pigtails. I guess it would be good to have some Catwoman costume options as well. Catwoman is actually playable after all. But as for me, I’m mostly interested in Harley.

7. Better Boss Fights

Some of the boss fights in Arkham Asylum were not quite up to snuff. Specifically, I felt like the Killer Croc fight was dissapointing as he went down with just one Batarang each time he popped up. Come on, Rocksteady. You can do better than that.

8. The Goddamn Batman Mod

I’d like to see a mod where every Batman line is replaced with “I’m the Goddamn Batman!” Ok, maybe it doesn’t have to be every line. If the mod just randomly replaced one out of every ten lines with a roaring “I’m the Goddamn Batman!” I think that would satisfy me. Alternately, the mod could replace all batman lines with randomly inserted quotes from the Goddamn Batman twitter.

9. A Multiplayer Mode

If I’ve learned anything in my years as a gamer it’s that multiplayer makes everything better, no matter what. Why just think of all the possibilities for co-operative… I’m just fucking with you. Of course a multiplayer mode would be a horrible idea in this game. Who the fuck wants to be Robin?

10. The Ability to Save Replays

This would probably have to be a feature that comes with the game, I don’t think it would be possible to do this as a mod. Basically if a player set up a really cool series of takedowns they could save it as a replay video. Say I glide kicked an unsuspecting henchman, hit two of his buddies with Batarangs and then detonated some explosive gel on the guys coming in for reinforcements. That might be something I’d want to view again.

Toys “R” Us has released its annual Holiday Hot Toy List for 2011, and out of the 36 items that will the most popular this season and have parents getting in fist fights over, the only video game to make the list was Activision’s Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure.

The game even made the Fabulous 15 list.

Skylanders: Spyro’s Adventure allows the user to place their Spyro action figure on a “Portal of Power,” which transports said toy into the video game world.

Players can then complete adventures, collect surprises and more that will be retained when their character leaves the game world.

When the player goes back to the game, each character will retain in-game experiences, and better still, it allows the player to transfer weapons, skills and more across all platforms its available for.

The starter set, which includes the aforementioned “Portal of Power” also includes toys for Spyro, Gill Grunt and Trigger Happy along with the game.

Skylanders will be made available for Mac, PC, PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 starting October 16.

After the break, you can find the full list of 125 cars in the upcoming Driver: San Francisco, from the classic 1951 Hudson Hornet to the Pagani Zonda Cinque. Above, you can watch a few of those cars fling themselves around at speeds they probably shouldn’t be going through a crowded city.

If certain retailer listings are to be believed, it appears that Rayman Origins won’t be confined to the Xbox 360 and PS3 when it’s released this holiday. Amazon has posted a listing for a Wii version of title, including the convincing box art seen here. Furthermore, a purported GameStop new release list mentions both a Wii and DS version of Rayman Origins. For what it’s worth, both GameStop and Amazon specify a November release date.

While Ubisoft hasn’t confirmed anything outside of the 360 and PS3 versions, a port to DS or Wii certainly seems possible, especially given the game’s 2D presentation.

Sports Interactive boss Miles Jacobson has been awarded an OBE in the New Year Honours list.

Jacobson was awarded the honour for services to the games industry, and now joins a growing list of videogame Officers of the Order of the British Empire, such as Eidos life president Ian Livingstone, Lionhead boss Peter Molyneux and Argonaut founder Jez San.

“We think this is very much deserved for all the hard work involved in not only establishing a good sense of business to a raw and young Sports Interactive all those years ago, but also evolving the studio into an equal and more professional partner with its publisher and also a responsible one, via the involvement with various charities, as well as taking away the things we don’t like doing to allow us to concentrate on coding,” wrote co-founder Oliver Collyer on the Sports Interactive forums.
