The new EVE Online website (discussed in this blog) is going to undergo a few final tweaks and is scheduled to release next week, instead of this week as originally estimated.
At the same time the new website will be revealed, the resources and information which players have sought on the EVE Online site, will be made available on a new community website which should prove to be quite an improvement in terms of browsing and locating what you need.
We look forward to showing you the two websites and wish you all a great weekend!

According to a source speaking with Inside Mobile Apps, Microsoft is planning to phase out its Microsoft Points system by the end of 2012. Microsoft using its points system as a virtual currency. It is currently being used on Xbox Live, Windows Phone and the Zune marketplace.

Since last August, Xbox Live has grown by another 5 million members to 40 million in total worldwide, helping to grow Microsoft’s second quarter financial earnings in the Xbox division by 15 percent from the previous quarter. So, what did the Xbox division pull in between October 1 and December 31 (its financial “Q2″) in terms of actual dollars? About $ 4.24 billion, says the company in its latest financial earnings statement. Not too shabby!
“In addition to the continued strength of our commercial business, this holiday season was the strongest in Microsoft history, thanks to good sales execution and compelling products like Xbox 360 and Kinect,” Microsoft COO Kevin Turner boasts in the release. He’s echoing numbers reported by Microsoft just last week during the company’s final Consumer Electronics Show Ballmernote, wherein the company announced record sales numbers for the Xbox 360 across 2011, but most especially during the holidays.
Perhaps more notably, the keynote was where no one mentioned a word about any upcoming Xbox 360 successor, despite rumors indicating as much. With numbers like these, though, it’s a bit more understandable why Microsoft isn’t looking to replace its big seller just yet.

Microsoft has restored the Xbox Live account and refunded all unauthorized charges accrued due to a “phishing scam” XBL user SusanT suffered when her account was sold to the highest bidder on a Chinese website.

“While we do not ordinarily comment on specific cases, Microsoft can confirm that the account in question has been reinstated to its rightful owner and all unauthorized charges are being refunded in full,” a Microsoft spokesperson told Kotaku.
The customer, whose account was not locked by Microsoft has promised after contacting customer service several times on the matter, is just one of many reports which have surfaced over the last few months regarding unauthorized Xbox Live account access.
The spokesperson said that in light of the various issues with XBL accounts, the firm is currently reviewing its procedures, as the online safety of Xbox Live members “remains of the utmost importance, which is why we consistently take measures to protect Xbox Live against ever-changing threats.”
“However, we are aware that a handful of customers have experienced problems getting their accounts restored once they’ve reported an issue,” the spokesperson continued. “We are working directly with those customers to restore their accounts as soon as possible and are reviewing our processes to ensure a positive customer support experience.”
The MS representative went on to repeat previous statements made by Microsoft officials, reiterating that “there has been no breach to the security of our Xbox Live service.”

In the meantime, change your passwords, don’t use the same log-in anywhere else, and use point cards to buy products from the service instead of your credit card or PayPal for the time being.

The experiences of a young woman in Texas have highlighted security issues for Microsoft’s Xbox Live service, after her account was hacked and points purchased on it sold to the highest bidder.
Susan T shared her story on a blog which documented her correspondence with both Microsoft and someone who had bought the points fraudulently purchased with her account.
She became aware of the problem on January 2 when she received purchase confirmations from Microsoft for 10,000 points and the Family Gold Pack, as well as an email to say the points had been successfully transferred. She had been charged $ 214.97, and immediately contacted Microsoft’s Xbox Phone Support Team, who blocked her account.

You’ve got yourself a brand new copy of Forza Motorsport 4 from Grandma, a full day off from work for holidays, and a general attitude of not accepting standard pricing, right? Perfect, because Microsoft is offering major discounts — today only — on Forza 4 content over Xbox Live, including that “Drifter Race Suit” your Avatar has been asking for.
Okay, okay, the normally $ 30 “season pass” is also being discounted to $ 22.50, while last month’s “November Speed Pack” is also lowered in price to 280 MS Points ($ 3.50) from 560. That Drift Racer suit is also half off but, you know, you probably don’t need that. No matter what your Avatar tells you.
