An unnamed source has told GigaOM.comMicrosoft’s using an updated version of Silverlight dev tools with Xbox TV. According to the source, the toolset – codenamed Lakeview – is not only still in development, but is still being modified, which is causing the developers behind the Xbox TV app to retest on a weekly basis. Lakeview, once perfected, could also be used by third-parties to create more 360 applications. The site is also rumoring that the new TV features, which are expected to roll-out with the latest dashboard update, will go live on Black Friday – or the day after Thanksgiving in the US.
A proported leaked memo from PayPal has the new dashboard releasing on November 15. Thanks, NeoWin.

Behind this next block might be a vast cavern with waterfalls, lava flows, and for some reason a huge block that keeps on spitting out monsters. Grab a pickaxe, join the adventure.

Microsoft is taking a set of sharp blades and ravenously cutting prices across the board on Xbox Live Marketplace content, starting right now. Already inexpensive (and wonderful) titles like ilomilo and Outland will cost you a cool 400 MS Points ($ 5) apiece, while deep multiplayer fare like Monday Night Combat and Section 8: Prejudice are going for 600 MS Points ($ 7.50) and 800 MS Points ($ 10), respectively.
Also, hey, if you’re not one of the over 2 million people who own and adore Trials HD, here’s another chance to grab it on the cheap (600 MS Points/$ 7.50). It’s unclear when the “Extreme Shopping” sale will end, so we’ve asked Microsoft for more info. For now, enjoy the sweet, sweet savings while you can.

Microsoft looks set to play on the principle of herd mentality by displaying the number of players online during its Gears 3 TV adverts in a bid to entice you in. Herd 2.0, anyone?

Microsoft’s UK TV adverts for Epic’s Gears of Wars 3 – screened between September 23 and October 3 – will carry live stats displaying the number of players online at the point that the ad is aired. Presumably in a bid to convince you that you should be doing what lots of other people are doing.
Microsoft UK Xbox marketing director, Stephen McGill, said that the publishers advertising spend for Gears 3 will be “…on the scale of what we did for Halo Reach and Halo 3 — television is the main centrepiece of the campaign.”
Thanks, Joystiq.
