It’s about an American coming to Japan in the 1800s to help teach them about guns and– yep, you’ve heard this one before. Even so, you should watch this trailer.

Now, if you pre-order this expansion, you’ll get one of three exclusive clans: the Saga clan, the Tsu clan and the Obama clan. Yeah, that Obama.

Codemasters has seemingly confirmed the return of ancient, egg-shaped mascot Dizzy, releasing a teaser video and launching Eggcitingnews.com

Dizzy was a hit for Codemasters in the 80s, with the platformer’s main series running from 1986 to 1992. Philip and Andrew Oliver, now of Blitz Studios, were the game’s original creators.

New Tomb Raider film producer Graham Kind tells Coming Soon the film will have a “very different” origin story. Different from what? Well, hold on.

Listen, the box office, they [previous Tomb Raider films] weren’t disasters but I find it interesting that the story that we’re telling is really the story before she became Lara Croft, so it is a character piece.

It does have a lot of really great characters, but it’s a lot of action and a lot of fun, and for me, it’s something very different. I’ve not really done a movie like that before, but I really gravitated to rebooting this franchise and we’re going to give it a shot.

It’s just different, then. OK, I guess I can roll with that. The film comes from the writers of Children of Men, so I have high hopes for it; maybe this will be that first great video game movie. We’ll see.

We’ll also see if it has anything to do with the new Tomb Raider reboot. Though I used a screen from that for this post, I don’t know if they’re related. I had to use something,  yeah?

Apparently Jennifer Lopez (J Lo, as you may call her) is going to produce a film version of Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego. We know nothing about the film, but it gave NMA.tv an excuse to drum up a mock trailer (complete with Rockapella reference), and that’s all that matters.

The Amazing Spider-Man — the movie — is hitting over the July 4th weekend next year. That’s just under nine months from now.

Also, apparently, Beenox is putting together a movie tie-in game for that very film, according to a poster spotted by IGN at the New York Comic Con this week. Beenox also less than two weeks ago put out Spider-Man: Edge of Time. That means they’re going to have two games out in nine months, which is crazy for a studio that only does one game at a time like Beenox.

But, hey, give it your best shot, guys. I know you can do it!

Ever feel like something is missing from your life? Like, for instance, a new Mortal Kombat movie to remind you of a long ago time when Christopher Lambert had a career? I do, and New Line must have sensed my pain because today they confirmed that yes, they are indeed producing a brand new Mortal Kombat movie.

New Line will be partnering with Warner Interactive for the film, which will be directed by Kevin Tancharoen who last year blew up the Internet with his own short film based on the franchise. Budget is estimated at more than 100 million and it’s set for a 2013 release. So assuming we all survive the Mayan apocalypse, 2013 is going to be a delightfully violent time for all the good boys and girls.

Really though, the only question I have is whether or not Christopher Lambert gets a cameo. COME ON, NEW LINE, MAKE THIS HAPPEN.

Legendary Pictures sent out a press release today listing their lineup for Comic-Con, and boy was I surprised by one of the things they said they’re bringing.

That thing: the Mass Effect movie. They’ll have a panel with screenwriter Mark Protosevich and BioWare’s Casey Hudson to talk about the thing. They say the panel will be on the 22nd, but they don’t give a time or place for it.

So I guess you’ll have to just block off that whole day, because you know you aren’t going to miss this. Sheesh. Who know what’s they’re gonna talk about?

Those visuals will also be accompanied by interesting sounds: filmmakers James Swirsky and Lisanne Pajot announced today that Sword & Sworcery EP composer Jim Guthrie is creating the music for the film.

Now, in order to finish that movie, the duo has initiated a second Kickstarter campaign. Basically, they need to bring more people in: “We’re looking for help with the finishing costs of the feature film (audio, colour, and mastering) in order to make this movie the best possible version of itself.” Available rewards for helping them reach the $ 35,000 goal include digital, DVD, or extended Special Edition copies of Indie Game: The Movie, t-shirts, and credits in the film. Go help out! We want to see this movie!

Funcom has announced new content coming to Age of Conan’ which will tie together the game and the upcoming movie, Conan the Barbarian starring Jason Momoa.

The new adventure pack includes but is not limited to content from the movie, and allows players to follow epic storylines in Conan’s realm.

Set 20 years after the movie storyline, The Savage Coast of Turan finds players being sent by Conan, now King of Aquilonia, to aid his buddy Artus as they him unravel the conspiracy and plots surrounding the city of Ardashir in Turan.

The pack adds all new encounters, the large new area of Ardashir, new dungeons and raids as well as new armor sets and monsters which were shown in the theatrical movie trailer.

“We have worked closely with the Funcom creative team since 2003 and carefully crafted a unique look and feel for Conan’s world,” said the game’s producer and Paradox CEO Fredrik Malmberg. “Many of the concepts, locations and designs from the game development were utilized by the film team for consistency, and we are thrilled that many elements of the film, distributed by Lionsgate in the US and UK, will feel familiar to the Age of Conan players.”

The pack is slated for release in August alongside the film, and concept art for The Savage Coast of Turan pack is below.

Conan the Barbarian hits theaters on August 19 in 3D. Other familiar names starring in the Marcus Nispel-directed film include Rose McGowan, Stephen Lang, Ron Perlman, Bob Sapp and Rachel Nichols.
