I’ve never seen combat, but I’ve heard it said that it is hurricane bursts of life-and-death activity bridged by an indescribably tense boredom. EA DICE miniaturizes this model in an grimly realistic presentation of war for Medal of Honor More »

Might & Magic: Clash of Heroes on PSN and XBLA is pretty much what it sounds like: last year’s DS game in high definition on consoles. For me, that alone is enough to ensure a purchase, because I’d make a hobby out of purchasing that delightful game if I could. Similarly, the new online (or offline) multiplayer component in Capy’s remake of the DS puzzle RPG is, precisely, the Clash of Heroes gameplay, adapted for more players. Which is enough.

GoldenEye 007

Let’s clear one thing up: This GoldenEye Wii game is not your GoldenEye N64 game all prettied up. This is an original game based on the same Bond … movie (though featuring the Daniel Craig Bond). That’s not to say that the new GoldenEye 007 doesn’t borrow — what it legally can — from Rare’s classic console FPS, but be careful about expecting a modern port of the 1997 game known simply and lovingly as “Bond.” (That project is still not happening.)

At Nintendo’s E3 booth, I played a quick round of two-player split-screen multiplayer of this new GoldenEye, and it left a positive impression. I could have sworn my opponent and I had faced off in a classic Bond map (the Archives, I thought), but Activision insists this is an “original” level, in so much as it is not a recreation of one of Rare’s maps from the N64 game. Of course, Rare’s maps were based on sets from the movie, and Activision has the rights to have maps designed from these same sets. So, expect to get a sense of déjà vu when playing the new Goldeneye.

Peripherals maker Hori is getting ready for Final Fantasy XIV on PS3, and getting ready to upsize your PS3 controlling experience. The company had this “PS3 MMO Controller” on display at its E3 booth, featuring a rather insane-looking tabletop left-hand thing, and a keyboard with PS3 analog stick and face buttons attached.

We say Hori is getting ready for FFXIV, but it’s not ready yet. This controller was a “concept model” only, with no information about a release date or price.
