PlayStation Plus members are receiving error codes when trying to play their free, downloadable Minis on the Vita, according to a thread on the Vita discussion forum. Sony is focused on fixing this. “We are aware of the issue, and will resolve it as quickly as possible,” a Sony spokesperson told Edge.
It appears Minis purchased outside from the PS Plus free-game deal work fine on the Vita, according to the thread. So, uh, take that, PS Plus members. We bet you’re really regretting buying into that awesome exclusivity deal with Sony right about now, because you can’t play your Minis and the problem will probably be fixed really soon. Yeah.

Sony has reportedly signed a deal with writer and director Brian Taylor (the auteur behind both Crank movies, the Jonah Hex screenplay, and the most recent Ghost Rider flick) to make a movie based on the Twisted Metal car combat games. Avi and Ari Arad (who formerly worked with Marvel on the Spider-Man series, among other projects) are said to be producing the movie, should it come to fruition.
If the deal pans out, the screenplay would follow the story of the games, pitting a series of vehicular combatants, including the iconic Doll Face and Sweet Tooth, against each other in a tournament to win a wish from the devilish Calypso. We don’t have a lot of attachment to the game’s “story,” so we already expect Taylor to take all of the liberties he wants. We do have one fan request, though: Can we get a David Jaffe cameo? Please?

Shuhei Yoshida, Sony Computer Entertainment’s head of product development, has egg on his face. In an interview with Game Informer, Yoshida expressed his regret at passing up on publishing Demon’s Souls due to his initial sour experience with the game.
Yoshida said:
For my personal experience with Demon’s Souls, when it was close to final I spent close to two hours playing it and after two hours I was still standing at the beginning at the game. I said, “This is crap. This is an unbelievably bad game.” So I put it aside.
In retrospect, Yoshida admits this was a mistake, having seen the success of the franchise. He went on to say:
We definitely dropped the ball from a publishing standpoint, including studio management side. We were not able to see the value of the product we were making.
Hindsight is 20/20, right?

After a bout of he said / she said earlier this year over the possibility of executive deputy prez Kazuo Hirai becoming president and CEO of Sony Corp., Sony has decided to make the news official this morning. As of April 1, 2012, Kaz will step up to the job of current CEO Sir Howard Stringer, effectively kicking off two months of vacation for Stringer before he becomes chairman of the board of directors in June 2012.
“I look forward to helping Kaz in every way I can so that succession leads inevitably to success,” Stringer said in the announcement press release. Kaz was ready with the back patting as well, as he said, “Challenging as times are for Sony now, were it not for the strong leadership of Sir Howard Stringer these past seven years, we would have been in a much more difficult position.” Hirai is known for having lead Sony Computer Entertainment through its most successful years, as well as being the guy who says “Riiiiiiiidge Racer!” really enthusiastically.
Stringer’s appointment to the board of directors in June awaits final approval during the annual shareholders meeting in June. If confirmed, he will replace retiring chairman Yotaro Kobayashi, though he will in no way match Kobayashi’s totally sweet name.
