Super

The internet sure is a vast place. Someone has apparently decided to make a remake of Super Mario Bros. 3 in the style of the new, popular New Super Mario Bros.-series. Apparently, the remake has already been completed, and he has now released a massive 15-minute trailer of the project. Check it out below if that sort of thing tickles your fancy.

New Super Meat Boy Levels Forthcoming

by Salat on November 11, 2010 · 0 comments

Very soon, Super Meat Boy will be getting an Xbox Live title update, and Team Meat says they should be sending it off to Microsoft this week. And when it does go live (they “hope” it will by the 21st of this month), it’ll fix all the bugs and add a new song to the soundtrack. And it’ll come with 20 new levels. No s**t.

This new group of what they call “internet levels” is called the Sewers of Dross. They say: “In the sewers of dross you will be using only Gish and his sticky abilities to traverse 20 levels that ramp in difficulty from medium to soul crushing.”

Oh, and as a side note, they also say the PC version is on the way and should be out by the end of the month and that you’ll be able to pre-order it for a sale price, similar to what they did when it launched on Xbox Live.

As you surely know if you’ve been following the news here on gamrFeed, Super Street Fighter IV will be getting new characters. So far, it’s been confirmed in both videos and screenshots that Yun and Yang from Street Fighter III will be joining the fray, and Yoshinori Ono, the game’s producer, has for a long time been teasing that more new characters are on the way.

However, no word on exactly whom. That is still the case; however, he did mention a possible date for more information on his personal Twitter. His exact tweet, broken english maintained, was as follows: “So I’ll visit to Moscow in 20-21th Nov. I’ll planning announce about SSFIV and some SFxTK news. And I’ll have special animation movie. It’s localized.”

It’s hard to imagine what the information regarding the Arcade Edition of Super Street Fighter IV could be, if not new characters. Considering the changes to existing characters are already being detailed in weekly blog posts, that would hardly be news.

Even if it turns out to be nothing but a dud, at least we can expect some new Street Fighter x Tekken stuff.

Super Meat Boy, Now In Lego Form

by Salat on November 7, 2010 · 0 comments

He may have an unlimited number of lives for most of the game, but even so Super Meat Boy is very fragile. It's appropriate then, that he be reconstructed out of Legos. We have a feeling if you chucked that thing at a power saw you'd get the same explosive effect as in the game.

Flickr user Pierre Import constructed this version of Meat Boy out of Legos, adding it to his army of other block-headed creations. Now, where's Bandage Girl and Dr. Fetus?

Exclusive-new-bandage-character-for-super-meat-boy-pc-header

So, in case you missed it, we did a charity live stream of Super Meat Boy today on Public Access Destructoid's channel on Justin.tv. We planned on doing it for just a few hours, but then we ended up going all day and into the night. We helped raise $ 2,000, and we're all incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed.

That said, it's still not too late to donate. Here's how the charity works. Danny B., (the composer for Super Meat Boy), is donating the proceeds from the sales of all his soundtracks to Multiple Sclerosis research. Danny's sister Christy (seen above) suffers from MS, so this whole thing is very personal, both for Danny and for us at Dtoid.

I'm so overwhelmed by the whole experience that I almost forgot to tell you the news part of this news post. Edmund McMillen (co-creator of Super Meat Boy) promised that once we got to $ 2,000, that he'd reveal an new character for the PC version of Super Meat Boy. Hit for the character reveal, and a little description of who they are and how they'll be implemented in the game.

It's Captain Viridian from VVVVVV!

There's no news yet on exactly how the Captain will play in the game, but I bet his gravity flipping ways will be involved in some way. If you haven't checked the game out, you should do so ASAP. There is a free demo available through the game's official site. It's incredibly clever and fun to play.

Edmund also told us that the creator of VVVVVV is making some special VVVVVV themed levels for Super Meat Boy PC. I'm 99% sure that I heard Edmund say that these levels will be made with the game's PC exclusive level editor, but don't quote me on that. I'm sure we'll be hearing more from Edmund about it soon.

Also news; it sucks to have your armpit licked by strange man.

You may recall the release dates for the upcoming new alternate costumes for Super Street Fighter IV being spread very far apart. This resulted in a lot of complaints from the fanbase. In reaction to this, Capcom did something that gaming companies very rarely do – they listened.

As a result, we now have an entirely new batch of release dates. Two of the packs have already been released prior to this announcement, so if you’re a fan of Guy, Dee Jay, Dudley, Makoto, Hakan, Ryu, Ken, Akuma, Gouken and/or Dan, you’re already set. As for the rest of the characters, here are the new dates for their DLC costumes:

• Chun-Li, C. Viper, Sakura, Rose, Cammy — Nov. 16, 2010

• Juri, Ibuki, Cody, Adon, T. Hawk — Dec. 7, 201

• Zangief, E. Honda, Rufus, Abel, El Fuerte — Dec. 21, 2010

• Balrog, Vega, Sagat, M. Bison, Seth — Jan. 11, 2011

• Guile, Blanka, Dhalsim, Fei Long, Gen — Jan. 25, 2011

• Full Costume Pack — April 26, 2011. This will run 1,440 Microsoft points, or $ 18.00 USD.

Don’t you just love it when whining actually pays off?
