Xbox

Your Xbox or PS3 controller is okay the way it is … but it could be so much more boogie board-shaped. The XtendPlay attachment adds a big block of foam to the bottom of your controller, apparently to both make your grip on your controller more comfortable and allow you to rest the whole thing in your lap more easily. Or something.

Creator Xwerx likens the development to the invention of the baseball glove. “So the question we put to you is: why are you still bare-handing your controller?” “Stallion83,” who has over 500,000 Gamerscore, likes the device (or likes his endorsement deal), and he knows a thing or two about holding a controller for way too long.

The $ 20 … things … ship “in 2 weeks,” according to the website, and are available for pre-order now. Still not convinced? Check out a trailer after the break. You really need to see this in motion.

Xbox Live Rewards Pour Vous

by Salat on December 2, 2010 · 0 comments

There’s a new section of Xbox.com today. It’s rewards.xbox.com. If you head over there, you’ll notice that there is now a rewards program for Xbox Live. Above are the things you can do in the program and the reward (in Microsoft Points) you get for doing them. Yay. I think this probably trumps the Playstation Rewards program. Your move, Sony.

It’ll probably take a while to rack up the points, but who cares? I have to go to the movies 15 times to get one free ticket with the theater rewards card. And, hey, collecting random small chunks of points will be good for buying weirdly priced Mass Effect DLC down the road.

Xbox Modder’s Day In Court Delayed

by Salat on December 2, 2010 · 0 comments

The judge had some choice words for the prosecution trying to convict a California man for modifying consoles.

Things aren't looking good for the prosecution as they begin their case against Matthew Crippen, the man accussed of breaking anti-circumvention rules in the Digital Millenium Copyright Act by modding Xbox consoles. If convicted, Crippen could face 10 years in prison.

“I really don’t understand what we’re doing here,” U.S. District Judge Philip Gutierrez told the prosecution, according to an account of the trial posted by Wired. He further criticized the prosecution for wanting to use witnesses may have broken the law, and for claiming that Crippen didn't need to know he was breaking the law to be culpable for the crime.

After the reprimand, the prosecution may dismiss the case, or offer a deal to Crippen in lieu of pursuing a trial.

Xbox Live Indie Fights Back

by Salat on December 1, 2010 · 0 comments

The developers behind the 360 indie scene have crafted their own Summer of Arcade-style event. Check out this amazing trailer for 14 sweet games you may have never heard of in the Winter Uprising.

The Xbox 360 indie games channel can be hard to navigate at times. There are a lot of games, and it's sometimes hard to separate the wheat from the chaff. Some of the best developers on the service have realized the same thing, and have banded together to help each other promote the release of their new games, beginning this upcoming first week of December. In many cases, these are second installments of a franchise, or games produced by legacy Xbox Live Indie developers, so you can expect a step up in quality now that the developers know the system.

The trailer that reveals these games is pretty amazing. Check it out at the bottom of this post to see gameplay from all of the following games coming soon to your 360. When you're done, head over to the Winter Uprising website, where you'll find more info on each game and links to the developers' websites.
